Guunar Weidner - Classical Dressage

Gunnar Wiedner with his wife Evelyn Schloßhan-Wiedner

Gunnar Wiedner. When I was a child I was still fascinated in horses, but I had no opportunity to ride and I finally started at the age of twenty two. After the first steps in conventional riding I understood very fast that this is not the right way for me, because I missed the lightness and the fun for rider and horse.

For my further schooling I went to the Iberian Peninsula to Portugal and Spain and later also to the south of France, here I met some well-known teachers, and I found more lightness and amazing beautiful Iberian horses.

It was in 1999 when we had big problems with a very "special" Andalusian stallion in riding and lunging, nobody couldn't help us or had an idea what to do  with this horse. It wasn't surprising, that we met Philippe Karl.

Philippe Karl was still famous in Germany due to his book "Hohe Schule an der Doppellonge" (Long Reining: The Saumur Method) and he started to give his first clinics in Germany. After the first lessons with Philippe Karl and our difficult Iberian stallion in 1999, which were for me a restart in teaching horses, I took part in a lot of open clinics and I also went every year with my horses for an intensive training to Philippe to the south of France. I am very lucky that I have now the opportunity to take part since 2007 in the three years teacher clinics here in Germany.

Since 1997 my Lusitano "Anaconda" is with me. By now he is twenty one years old and is getting a little bit more white and prudent. From the beginning he was an extreme sensitive horse, sometimes a little bit hysterical. He taught me to be very patient and to ride with a minimum of aids. In November 2006 I bought a young Warmblood (grandfather Donnerhall) with the name "Don Juan" and I start to teach him the way of the "School of Lightness".

After my education I hope that it would be possible for me to work as a full time riding teacher. I would like to train different horses in my stable which is near the German/ French border and also to make clinics in Germany or in foreign countries.

Evelyn Schloßhan-Wiedner. I ride since I was a little child, at the age of three I bother my parents to buy a little pony for my. Later I was riding many different horses, different styles, jumping, dressage, hunting in the conventional way. At the age of eighteen I bought my first horse a very difficult and dangerous Arabian horse. I learned a lot from him ~ never to give up and to search for different ways of communication. I also met Philippe Karl in 1999 and I took part in a lot of open clinics and I also went with my horses for an intensive training to the south of France. I am very happy that I have the opportunity to listen to the teacher clinics and I am glad to train my horses together with Gunnar in the way of lightness.

Gunnar Wiedner is currently participating in Philippe Karl's three year Teachers Course in his School of Légèreté.
