Gail George with Chaise

Gail George with Chevalier Park Impressionist

Gail George with Chevalier Park Impressionist. Gail George has been in the saddle most of her life. Gail started out riding on the family farm on stock horses doing sheep and cattle work, transitioning to endurance riding which she did for twelve years. Gail is now learning to ride and train horses both on the ground and under saddle through people such as John Lyons, Steve Brady, Marji Armstrong and now Philippe Karl.

Chevalier Park Impressionist (Chaise) is an eight year old Andalusian x Warmblood mare. Gail purchased Chaise as a two year old and was started under saddle as a four year old in 2006. Chaise has been lightly ridden since due to work and family commitments, but has commenced regular work in 2009. Chaise is a very responsive, attractive and athletic mare, willing to try her utmost and give all. Chaise is a very good doer!

Gail's other horse Obie is Chaise's older brother. Obie is an eleven year old Andalusian x Thoroughbred that Gail has had since he was a five year old. Gail participated in the Nicole Weinauge Clinic with Obie in April, 2009. On the 29th of April, Obie injured himself at a yard at Gail's local riding club so severely that she thought he had broken his back. Since then, Gail has watched him recover slowly from his torn gracilis muscle and gradually recover. Obie is now up to gradual, gentle work on the lunge and a little walking under saddle. Obie loves to play, rear, buck and do aerial work when he is not being ridden which has made his recovery tricky.

Gail lives in the a picturesque Ferguson Valley near Dardanup, Western Australia on one hundred acres with her husband Richard, son Ewan and their dog Walie. Gail says, "I would like to thank Pip Easton for her contribution, enormous effort and vision in bringing Philippe Karl and his teachers to Australia."

Questions and Answers with Dressage World

How were you introduced to Philippe Karl's methods? I borrowed Philippe Karl's Classical Dressage DVD (The School of Dance) from a friend and immediately purchased the whole set on the internet! I watched them over and over, however, I did not have the confidence to try too much until the Nicole Weinauge Clinic.

What do you hope to gain out of Philippe Karl's Teachers Clinic? A soft, balanced walk, trot and canter in both directions with good neck extension and Chaise using her back correctly.

What is your dream? To ride in true lightness and harmony with my horse performing flying changes!
