Steve Brady with Elektra. Steve Brady has given displays with his horses since 1985. Some major highlights in his later career has been entertaining at Sydney Royal Easter Shows and educating at all Equitana Asia Pacific Trade Fairs. After twenty five years in the horse educating business, also working with problem horses and educating advanced horses for clients, Steve became aware that it is people who need educating and has now gone full time into the people educating business. Steve likes to work with people who like to advance their horses by educating and improving themselves.
Steve stresses the importance of consistency ~ the timing of the release of pressure and how recognising the littlest try is vital to training.
- Response, Release and Repetition,
- Competence = Confidence = Control.
Steve Brady has written a book that had also been released as a DVD, Horse Training: Steve Brady's Formula for Success. This book/DVD is for people who enjoy advancing
their horses by educating
and improving themselves.
Elektra (Lekky) is an Irish Sporthorse by Wrestwood Neptune (Imp) out of a Jungle Boy Thoroughbred mare and is owned by Pip Easton. Lekky is a twelve year, big moving registered Warmblood with the most amazing temperament ~ so polite, kind, big hearted and generous. She's the kind of horse who'd walk through fire for you and gives you all of herself. After speaking with her breeder, who imported the stallion Wrestwood Neptune from the United Kingdom as a yearling sixteen years ago, he said, "She's the best one we ever bred and she's just like her father ~ an amazing gentle soul."
She was always trained quietly in a light contact with her first owner, Sharon Pisconeri who had lessons with Zoe Harrison and went to a few shows and outings for success.
She's had three babies ~ a foal by Aramis (Imp) (now owned by Anna Chapman who is doing very well apparently), an Australian Stockhorse and most recently, 11th November 2008, a filly by Depardieu (De Niro/Donnerhall) for Pip Easton. "Poppy" is adorable and has her mum's confidence and calm approach to life (pictured right).
"When I rode Elektra at the Southwest Games in 2004, we won gold medals for Champion Rider, Champion Large Hack and Supreme Champion Hack. Steve Brady has actually met Elektra before. He was doing a clinic at Ann Battley's just after I bought her and her breeder, Sir Harry Malet asked Steve to come over and float train her so I could bring her home." Sharon Pisconeri, Elektra's first owner.
Steve Brady hasn't ridden Elektra yet, so it will be a test for both man and rider but a challenge which I'm sure will benefit both.
